Haven’t posted a Procreate WIP video in a while, so here’s a quick sloppy one 🖤

Just for fun I limited myself to only using the new Procreate stock brushes , and I gotta say the new oil & Gouache brush sets are pretty great. the video was way to long so I tried to cut most of the boring slow details and just get to the stuff I get asked about the most .

When the actual painting is done I’ll merge everything and then lower the contrast slightly, so it looks more dull.

Then I will add a texture layer, it kinda just looks grey on the screen but, it’s actually an extremely detailed custom texture layer with canvas textures, dirt, scratches all in black and white, I’ve been making my own custom textures for a million years by scanning literally everything on my scanner and layering things together. I also do photography and photo editing for other people / bands / artists etc. so I’m always collecting weird things and garbage to scan. lol

ok, so then I will bring the now “dull” looking painting with the lowered contrast and texture layers into Lightroom and start adjusting the texture, details, de-hazing and contrast to “melt” everything together and bring back the intensity, then I play around with the color grading till I’m satisfied, and Bam! I’m done. ( note: I only use the Free Version of Lightroom & will never give Adobe another cent of money ever again, they suck , I switched to Affinity years ago for all my Designer related projects, aside from Lightroom)

Also, If this was for the Dark Vintage Collection, I would then make a fresh canvas in Procreate with the same dimensions, but change the color profile to basic CMYK and then import the painting into their & export it again. Then I would make another fresh canvas but in an RGB color profile and add both the CMYK & Lightroom versions and usually do a 50% transparency of one over the other, it just help bring the boldness down slightly and gives everything an older not so digital look.

Also I’m not & don’t ever want to be an “Influencer Artist” so I couldn’t care less about how “aesthetically pleasing” my process is to anyone , cause I developed it to work for my own chaotic autistic insomniac brain 🖤 I also usually have at least 5 projects going at once and bounce back and fourth between them all to keep my brain from losing interest.
